Engineer Ahmed Qandil, Mayor of Jableh Municipality, stated in a statement to SANA reporter that the number of deaths resulting from the earthquake that occurred at dawn today initially reached 25 people and about 200 injuries, indicating that the earthquake led to the collapse of 15 buildings from two to three floors to seven floors, distributed in several Areas in Jableh, including Al-Ghazalat Street, Al-Rumaila Street, and Furn Somer Street.

Qandil pointed out that the city council with all its teams and cadres, rescue teams in the civil defense, public and private sector mechanisms, and fire brigades are working to the best of their capabilities.

For his part, Dr. Qusai Khalil, Director of the National Hospital in Jableh, said in a similar statement: “The hospital, with its entire staff, is on high alert and is providing all emergency and health services to the injured.”
