The action alliance "Pro Hospital Schongau" reacts to the announcement by the hospital GmbH about the future of the two district-owned hospitals.

One does not agree with the plans, but they contradict the result of the referendum.

However, the action alliance has its own proposals.

Schongau

- To develop the Weilheim hospital into a "level 2 provider" and in return to completely close the Schongauer clinic or at most to provide acute care places - without emergency room and separate departments (care level 1i): After the supervisory board of the hospital GmbH these future plans for the two district-owned hospitals presented, the action alliance “Pro Hospital Schongau” now has its say.

The reform of federal hospital reimbursement will come into force and will apply in addition to the referendum, but the variants presented by the district administrator did not take the referendum into account.

"A Level 1i variant as outpatient care with acute care beds does not fulfill the will of the citizens, neither in Schongau nor in Weilheim",

Do not expand the Weilheim clinic into a major provider, but the Schongauer

Rather, it should be examined whether the Schongauer Klinikum should be expanded into a level 2 hospital instead.

In addition to basic care with internal and surgical departments, most specialist departments should move from Weilheim to Schongau, according to the action alliance's proposal.

Existing departments such as intensive care and emergency medicine could be expanded, and Schongau could have a telemedical connection to the MRI (Munich Right of the Isar).

The nursing school on site already meets the criteria for Level 2.

Both hospitals could also be downsized and patients sent on for further treatment, according to the action alliance

In contrast to the clinic, Weilheim could become "Level 1n" with basic treatment, internal medicine and surgery, intensive care beds, an emergency room and other specialist departments as well as telemedical linking to the MRI.

The action alliance's second proposal is to downsize both hospitals (level 1n) and to move the patients to larger facilities outside the district for further treatment.

The proposals of the hospital GmbH are against the will of the citizens, says the action alliance

Shutting down Schongau to an outpatient center with acute care beds is not only against the will of the citizens, but a decision that only allows all citizens in the Schongau catchment area to receive care at normal practice times.

“Basically, all emergencies must be taken to Weilheim or another house with an emergency room.

For around 30,000 people, this means a journey of more than 30 minutes.” The action alliance is certain that residents will go where they can find attractive conditions for further training – including Schongau.

And: "It would certainly be the easiest to finance, since Schongau has the best conditions for expansion."
