Deir ez-Zor Governorate announced that all its service sectors have been prepared to the maximum level, to face the effects and repercussions of the earthquake, at the level of all administrative units.
The governor of Deir ez-Zor, Fadel Najjar, confirmed during a meeting of the central and sub-structural emergency and safety committees in the governorate today, that an inventory of the damage resulting from the earthquake's aftershocks would be carried out, a comprehensive survey of the buildings would be carried out and their technical condition indicated, and work immediately on evacuating them if they posed a threat to public safety, and preparing centers Shelter to receive families who may be forced to evacuate their homes, strengthen health centers and hospitals, and mobilize health personnel to receive any emergency cases.
It is noteworthy that the governorate of Deir Ezzor did not record any cases of the collapse of residential buildings, and the damages of the earthquake were limited to the collapse of the third communication exchange building in the Al-Ammal neighborhood, which is located within the liberated neighborhoods, and it is a building that is about to fall.
On the other hand, the weather conditions cut off the internet and communication services in Deir ez-Zor, due to an emergency failure in one of the main optical cables feeding the governorate, where the technical workshops of the Syrian Telecom Company branch are working to fix the malfunction.
Engineer Ramadan Al-Dalli, Director of the Syrian Telecommunications Branch, told SANA reporter that the fault is located near Palmyra, about 160 km away from the city of Deir Ezzor, indicating that the internet feed has been diverted to the alternative micro path Damascus, Aleppo, Deir Ezzor, until the service is restored via the main path.
