Gattoni's novel is nearing its end in San Lorenzo: he will not renew because he will be sold to Sevilla

The Boedo club reached an agreement in principle with Sampaoli's team that will take the defender in June in exchange for 1.5 million dollars.

The case of Federico Gattoni, more than a novel, this summer became a blockbuster series of the moment with several seasons.

But this endless conflict that is involved in the negotiation for the renewal of his contract that already accumulates nine months is in its final chapter.

And the exit to a tug of war that had become spicy last week is in Spain, more precisely in Sevilla.

The 23-year-old defender will not sign a new link with San Lorenzo.

But he will not be removed from the professional squad either, as had been speculated.

It is that the Andalusian club that is currently directed by the Argentine Jorge Sampaoli returned to the charge for him and reached a verbal agreement to buy him from the Cyclone for 1.5 million gross dollars and take him away only in the middle of this year.

In this way, the footballer will be able to take the leap he wanted in his career, the Barça institution will receive money in exchange and Ruben Darío Insua will be able to continue using it during this semester.

All satisfied.

Or almost.

It is that although San Lorenzo thought of Gattoni as one of his young people to sell for a better figure in the future, the position of the defender who is captain in the Gallego cycle was putting the Boedo club on the ropes.

The other way out would have meant hanging him and releasing him after June, when he ends his contract.

With this sale, 1.2 million dollars will be paid in two installments (half and end of 2023).

The lesser evil

Gattoni, who will resign a part of what corresponds to him for the transfer, wanted to emigrate yes or yes and that is why he did not sign his new contract.

As Clarín

learned

, it only remains to prepare the final document and sign it so that its transfer becomes official, which will only take effect in five months.

It will be necessary to see if Insua will already be taken into account for Saturday when he receives Godoy Cruz at the Nuevo Gasómetro.

This Monday, Gattoni trained normally with his teammates.

Of course, with this new offer from Sevilla, the ultimatum that Matías Caruzzo (professional soccer coordinator) had given him last Thursday came to nothing.

"If you don't sign, you won't be taken into account

," the defender had heard.

He spent the weekend, he was not summoned before Lanús and he never signed.

It was expected that this Monday he would be removed from his teammates, but the reappearance of the Spanish entity changed everything and began to untie a difficult knot.

That yes, if for some reason the operation comes to fall in the next few hours, Gattoni knows that he will automatically have to train against the professional staff.

The talks for its renewal began in May of last year.

Everything was stretched due to differences with his representative, Marcelo Lombilla, who demanded a low exit clause (1.5 million dollars), which in the last stretch of the negotiation had been accepted by San Lorenzo.

In between, Gattoni traveled a couple of times to Italy to process his community passport.

The second time was without managerial authorization, after his debut in the local tournament.

Even so, Sevilla did not get to sign him for this market since he did not have a quota.

But he closed an agreement with the footballer first and now with the Cyclone, which at least will not be left empty-handed.
