Mr. President Bashar Al-Assad received a telegram of condolences and sympathy for the earthquake victims from the head of the political bureau of the “Hamas” movement, Ismail Haniyeh.
Haniyeh said in the telegram: “With great sadness and sorrow, with the most sincere feelings of solidarity, sympathy, and absolute recognition of God’s will and destiny, we received in the Hamas movement, and in general our Palestinian people in all their places of existence, the news of the devastating earthquake that occurred at dawn today in the north of the country, and its aftershocks that reached even The capital, Damascus, and its catastrophic effects that claimed many lives, and terrible material and human losses, in conjunction with severe weather conditions.
Haniyeh added: “We in the Hamas movement, as we extend our condolences and sympathy to your Excellency, to announce our full solidarity and stand by our Palestinian people by your side and by the brotherly Syrian people who expressed their Arab and Islamic authenticity by standing and permanent and continuous support for our people in the past and present.”
Haniyeh expressed his hope that all international and relief bodies and bodies would take the urgent initiative and provide the necessary assistance to relieve and rescue the bereaved and mitigate the effects of the earthquake.
In his telegram, Haniyeh included the most sincere feelings, condolence, and sympathy to the families of the victims, the wounded, and the injured, and to the Syrian people in general, asking God Almighty to help them overcome this catastrophe and limit its effects, and to have mercy on the victims, and speed up the recovery of the wounded and the injured, and to rescue the missing, and to preserve Syria and its people and deliver it from all harm.
