The governor of Lattakia, Amer Hilal, announced that the number of earthquake victims in the province has risen to 139, and the injured to 350, in an indefinite toll, indicating that rescue operations are continuing.
Hilal said in a statement to Al-Souria TV: Since the early morning hours when the strong earthquake struck the governorate, rescue teams from civil defense, firefighting, and police and military units went to carry out rescue operations, and the number of deaths in the governorate reached 139, and the injured reached 350, distributed among the governorate’s hospitals. Their injuries ranged from severe, medium, and simple, with a potentially high outcome.
Hilal indicated that a large number of survivors were found, and a large number is still under the rubble, pointing out that the Presidency of the Council of Ministers instructed all unaffected governorates to send ambulances, engineering vehicles, and civil defense teams to Lattakia, Aleppo, and the rest of the affected governorates, as they need this support. in rescue operations.
