The Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabaa, affirmed that school attendance today is left to parents, school principals, and directors of education, according to the current situation, due to the lack of exams.
Minister Tabbaa indicated in a statement to SANA reporter that there is no strictness regarding the issue of working hours for Monday as a result of the current situation as a result of the earthquake, noting that all school principals were instructed to allocate the first session of the day’s working hours to raise awareness about earthquake protection mechanisms and define their procedures, according to what was published by the ministry. on its official Facebook page.
The ministry pointed out how to deal with earthquakes in schools, indicating that experts have warned of the need to instruct students and school workers to run under the seat when the earthquakes begin, as it is necessary to jump towards the nearest seat to avoid shocks, and it is also necessary to ensure that suspensions are installed in the school and classrooms tightly. so as not to fall when earthquakes occur.
The ministry indicated the need to maintain calm, avoid screaming and agitation, distribute roles by teachers, direct students first to maintain their safety, avoid running towards school stairs, and train students and teachers well on how to deal with earthquakes in schools.
She pointed out the need to hang banners in the school specifying gathering points when earthquakes occur, so that they are within the supported areas in the school or the corners, and to remind students and those in charge of the school always of what they should do in the event of earthquakes, with the need to keep first aid bags in each class with training on Methods of use by teachers and all school workers, and closing all water and electricity outlets to prevent the occurrence of an electrical short circuit in the place.
