The earthquake that struck the country at dawn today caused damage to the electrical network in a number of governorates.

The Ministry of Electricity said in a statement: The earthquake led to the fall of 6 transformers in Lattakia Governorate, distributed between the industrial zone, the village of Al-Mukhtariya and the Al-Hanadi Jisr area. Tahweel centers (Al-Haddad in Al-Ruwaimiya - Al-Saraya and Al-Wazir, and the Arab Mosque) and Street (12) in Astamu.

It also led to the fall of a number of columns, and a number of depression networks were cut off in the areas of Al-Haffa, Al-Asaliya, Al-Rumaila in Jableh, and Al-Ghazalat Street.

In Tartous governorate, the earthquake caused malfunctions in the Safita tension line, the middle bazaar tension line, which has been repaired, and malfunctions in a tension tower branching off a grid from the Burj al-Shamamis tension line, and some low-tension columns fell and were damaged in each of the villages of Beit Issa and al-Masaqs - Dam road, and similar faults in low tension.

In Aleppo governorate, the statistics indicated that 6 transformers were damaged, which varied between 3 630 KVA transformers, 3 400 KVA transformers, and one 200 KVA transformer, in addition to damage to 200 poles and nearly 7 Tons of cables and cables, and damage to consulates and lines in 200 switching centers in the governorate.

In Hama governorate, the outcome of the initial damage was the fall of 5 transformers with a capacity of 400 kVA, 4 transformers with a capacity of 200 kVA, and two with a capacity of 630 kVA, as the workshops began repair work since the morning on the low and medium voltage networks. In addition to the participation of the engineering company's vehicles in assisting in rescue operations and removing rubble in the city of Hama and the town of Ain al-Krum.

In turn, the General Corporation for Electricity Transmission and Distribution prepared the first batch of materials and equipment needed to repair the damage in the most affected governorates, and it included transformers of different capacities, cables and wires.

It is noteworthy that within the emergency action plan at the national level, the Ministry of Electricity has mobilized the electricity generation, electricity transmission and distribution institutions, with their technical teams and workshops, in a state of full readiness, in light of the prevailing weather conditions, as follow-up is carried out around the clock with the central operations rooms and the governorates.
