More than 5,000 families affected by the floods in Bolivia

In at least 12 municipalities in the department of Santa Cruz, in Bolivia, emergencies have been reported due to the heavy rains that have fallen in recent days and have generated flooding, affecting 5,107 families from 213 communities. indicated the departmental government in a statement.

The president of Bolivia, Luis Arce, said on his Twitter account that they have already created an incident command to attend to emergencies in Santa Cruz and food, supplies, tools, water ponchillos and rubber boots have been delivered to some municipalities.

"Given the heavy rains that caused flooding in our Santa Cruz municipalities, we immediately instructed the deployment of civilian personnel and the armed forces to fly over the affected areas, send heavy machinery and humanitarian aid," said the president.

This Saturday, the Vice Minister of Civil Defense, Juan Carlos Calvimontes, spoke to the media about the overflights that have been carried out in the different municipalities that have suffered these floods, where Okinawa is one of the most affected.

“The Government will send all the necessary aid to all the municipalities and communities that are being affected.

At this moment there is a Civil Defense team that is going to the north of La Paz where we also have some damages, in this sector the bridges and highways have been seriously affected so that air operations are being prepared to be able to enter these areas and to be able to give the respective support to the families that need it”, indicated Calvimontes.
