An earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale struck this afternoon, central Turkey, affecting Syria.
The National Seismological Center stated in a statement, of which SANA received a copy today, that the stations of the national seismic monitoring network recorded an earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale at 13:24 local time in central Turkey.
The center indicated that the earthquake occurred at 38.09 latitude and 37.20 longitude, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
