Drone footage: rescuers in Turkish cities search for earthquake survivors (Reuters)
"The first thing I said to my husband is that we are running away to my mother," said Shiran Franco this evening (Monday), who was rescued from the ruins of a hotel in Turkey when a powerful earthquake struck the country in 1999, when she was 9 years old. Today, she lives in a 20-story building, and in an interview with Amnon Levy on Network 13, she told about her reaction to the earthquakes that hit Turkey and Syria today, and were also felt in Israel.
"I immediately went to the phone. The WhatsApp group of the building was already buzzing. Everyone asked if we felt it, friends texted me. I couldn't contain this scenario - the body suddenly reacts, palpitations, cold sweat. I was afraid for my children, because I know what The result of earthquakes, unfortunately. Only a few hours ago I was able to really relax from the whole thing," said Franco, who lost her father, brother, grandfather and grandmother in the disaster 23 years ago.

Franco was pulled from the wreckage only five days later, and according to her, she was in the evening most of the time.
"I more or less remember the event. I talked to my twin brother, Aryeh, mainly I wanted to make sure he answered me, because the parents didn't hear me. He was really close to me, but at a certain point he stopped answering," she said.
"As a nine-year-old girl, I didn't understand what this meant, I didn't understand what death was at all. How could something like this happen? It was only after I was flown to Tel Hashomer hospital, after a week of hospitalization, that I was told this. The family surrounded me all the way . It's total helplessness. Total uncertainty."
