Kai Tak's "simple public housing" site selection has caused a regional backlash. Housing Secretary Ho Wing-yin met yesterday (5th) with "A4" Alliance Legislative Council Member Yang Yongjie and 3 Kai Tak District Councilors.

District Councilor Zhang Jingxun who participated in the meeting quoted the bureau on a radio program today (6th) saying that "simple public housing" must be implemented and must be promoted urgently. However, residents questioned that the government did not consult the district beforehand, and hoped that the bureau could write it down in black and white Tomorrow exit time.

Zhang Jingxun said that residents of Kai Tak do not oppose the "simple public housing" policy, but they oppose the location selection of Kai Tak, and the government should consult the opinions of residents and district councilors in advance, regardless of the opinions of the grassroots or middle class.

He said that apart from the housing problem, Hong Kong also needs to face various problems. "If we win every time with speed and not enough consultation, it will be difficult to convince the public." He also pointed out that residents were disappointed with the bureau's response. It is hoped that there will be a site to replace World Fortune Road in Kai Tak, but unfortunately the relevant project has been submitted to the Legislative Council Public Works Sub-committee for consideration the next day (8th).

He pointed out that the residents do not trust the bureau to propose a "2+5" service life, and urge the bureau to specify the exit time in black and white and make arrangements to avoid confusion and delays in exit.

He said that "2+5" is not a short-term period, and it will definitely affect the development of Kai Tak into CBD2. The authorities must think about how to reduce the impact of "simple public housing" on CBD2 planning.

He said that he has been striving for the construction of a Kai Tak complex including a library and recreational and cultural facilities, as well as the strengthening of transportation facilities. If "simple public housing" is built in the area, it is believed that there will be more need to build related facilities.
