A residential building collapsed on the beach road in Lattakia this afternoon, after it had been evacuated at the first earthquake that hit the province at dawn, as the damage was limited to material.
Engineer Hussein Zengerli, head of the Lattakia City Council, told SANA reporter that when the first earthquake occurred, the building was evacuated from its residents, only to collapse when the second earthquake occurred, which prevented human losses.
On the other hand, the Director of the Readiness Directorate at Jableh National Hospital, Dr. Imad Ghannam, confirmed that the number of deaths in Jableh, resulting from the earthquake, has so far reached 88 deaths, while the number of injured has reached 115.
