The controversy over the classified documents found on the private property of the current president of the United States and the highest authorities of the previous government have shaken the political sphere.
First was the search of Donald Trump's house in August 2022 where hundreds of protected documents would be discovered that the then president refused to deliver.
Then came the discovery in early January of classified material in a Joe Biden office.
And now Mike Pence has sought legal advice after discovering classified documents at his Indiana home.
Under US law, classified documents must be stored and processed under a series of special security measures.
After an official leaves office, sensitive material in his or her hands must pass into the possession of the National Archives.
