Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid today expressed his condolences to the victims of the earthquake that struck Syria, stressing his country's solidarity with their families.
Rashid said in his account on the Twitter site: "We follow with great sadness the news of the fall of victims as a result of the earthquake that struck Syria today, and we offer our deepest condolences to their families and our feelings with them in this tragic accident."
The Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, also expressed his condolences to the earthquake victims and said on his Twitter account: “We extend our deepest condolences and sympathy to the victims of the earthquake that struck areas in Syria,” expressing his solidarity with the Syrian people to overcome this ordeal, wishing recovery and wellness for the injured.
