RANKING – Alsace has occupied the top of the podium for four consecutive years, according to the opinions left on the Booking.com booking platform.


Are the Parisians as warm as the Auvergnats or the Côte d'Azur?

Not sure.

In terms of hospitality, not all regions are created equal, according to a study carried out by Booking.com (1).

France is the third most welcoming destination in the world behind Italy and Spain, according to reviews left by users of the accommodation booking platform.

But some regions stand out more than others.

Thus, Alsace, Hauts-de-France and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté occupy the top of the list for the fourth consecutive year.

In the “Cities” category, three towns in Haut-Rhin, in Alsace, occupy the podium: Kaysersberg, Eguisheim and Riquewihr.

If the first was elected "Favorite village of the French" in 2017, the other two are part of the "Most beautiful villages of France".

    According to the same report, which lists the cities in the world where the welcome is the warmest, it is Polignano a Mare, a small seaside town in Puglia, Italy, which wins the prize.

    This is followed by Hualien (Taiwan), San Sebastian (Spain), Dresden (Germany) and Klaipėda (Lithuania).

    To establish this ranking, Booking.com counted the number of partner accommodations having obtained “

    a comment score equal to or greater than 8 (out of 10), based on at least 3 comments received by November 30, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. (CET)”

    France, the world's leading tourist destination, thus obtains 103,364 awards for accommodation, thus following its Italian (170,638) and Spanish (108,217) neighbors.

    (1) Survey commissioned by Booking.com and conducted independently among a sample of 30,314 people spread over 32 countries and territories (including 996 in France).

    In order to participate in this survey, respondents had to be at least 18 years old, have traveled at least once in the last 12 months, plan to travel in 2022 and have participated in the organization of their stay.

    This survey was conducted online in February 2022.
