Almost three years after the tragic night that changed their lives, Silvino Báez and Graciela Sosa, the parents of Fernando Báez Sosa,

heard the sentences of the eight rugby players who participated in the brutal murder of their only son,

in the early hours of the 16th of January 2020.

The parents were present in the courtroom when the ruling was read, following the resolution of the Oral Criminal Court (TOC) 1 of the city of Dolores, which ruled life imprisonment for Máximo Thomsen, Ciro Pertossi, Enzo Comelli, Matías Benicelli and Luciano Pertossi and 15 years for Blas Cinalli, Ayrton Viollaz and Lucas Pertossi.

"I feel a bit of peace in my heart knowing that my son's murderers were sentenced,"

were the first statements by Graciela Sosa in dialogue with Clarín, after hearing the sentence.

Her husband Silvino Báez, for his part, was not satisfied with the decision of the judges:

"We are satisfied but this is just beginning. We want perpetual life for everyone,"

he added to this newspaper.

In the same room were also the relatives of the eight rugbiers, who began to cry when they heard the verdict.

Máximo Thomsen's mother, for her part, asked to get closer to her son after he decompensated when he was sentenced.

Both the complaint and the prosecution had asked the court that the eight defendants receive life sentences, considering

that "it was proven" the participation of all of them

in the beating that ended Fernando's life.

Both arrived around noon and, unlike the days before the trial, they preferred not to speak to the press.

They did have a moment to greet Ramón Dupuy, Lucio Dupuy's grandfather, who traveled to Dolores to accompany them at the time the sentence was read.

Graciela and Silvino had asked in advance of the verdict that the sentence of the Dolores court be "exemplary".

"I trust and hope that Justice will be done for Fernando. And that what I could not do and what I wanted to do, cover it with my body to save my son, I hope that the judges can do it by giving them life as they deserve," he said. Graciela Sosa.

"I hope that justice is exemplary

, that it not only marks a before but that it is also for the after. We are already condemned to suffer with this pain forever. That they give them the maximum sentence is what we all hope, and that this does not return to happen," he added.

The woman attended all the hearings with her husband.

She was even present at the days in which they repeatedly showed the images of the moment of the murder.

In this regard, he assured that he still could not recover after having seen the videos of his son's crime.

"A mother, a father, is not prepared to lose a child. We never expected this, with Fernando we talked about the day I had to leave him, when I was no longer here. However, it was our turn to lose him forever" he revealed with a broken voice.
