High air pollution

The Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Health are warning that from tomorrow morning high to very high air pollution is expected in the Negev and Arava - this, due to high concentrations of respirable particles;

Low to moderate air pollution is expected in the rest of the country.

The reason for the high air pollution is strong southwesterly winds that cause sandstorms and transport dust from the Sinai direction to our area.

An improvement in air quality is expected towards evening, with the change in wind directions and the arrival of the rains.

In light of this, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, in consultation with the Ministry of Health, recommends that sensitive populations - including heart patients, lung patients, the elderly, children and pregnant women - avoid vigorous physical activity outside.

For the general population it is recommended to reduce strenuous physical activity outside.

In the branch of information and training of the population in fire and rescue, the public is called to heed life-saving instructions:

  • It is recommended to use safe means of heating such as an air conditioner or radiator

  • It is recommended not to use heating devices with a visible flame such as a coil oven, and heating devices should be kept away from blankets, mattresses and sofas - the heat radiation can cause fires.

  • Due to the strong winds throughout the country, it is recommended to anchor mobile objects on roofs, balconies and gardens as soon as possible for fear of collapsing trees, poles and flying objects that would endanger citizens.

  • Any hazard that could harm passers-by must be reported to the authorities.

  •  Drivers must slow down significantly and adapt to the road conditions, which include fog, and strong side winds that could shake the vehicle.

    Care must be taken to properly seal the house's openings (windows, doors, etc.).

  •  Drinking - in sufficient quantity (8-10 glasses of water per day, unless there is an explicit medical restriction).

  • Avoid drinking a lot of caffeine and alcohol.

  •  Meals - eat relatively light meals often (5-6 a day) and avoid heavy meals.
