This Monday the verdict against eight defendants for the murder of Fernando Báez, victim of a fatal beating in the city of Villa Gesell on January 18, 2020, was announced. Five of the defendants have been sentenced to life imprisonment and three others they have received a 15-year sentence for being secondary participants.
Fernando's last night alive was recorded on security videos and social networks.
Those responsible for his death are young people between the ages of 21 and 23, members of a rugby team, who confronted the victim after a dispute in a bar.
They beat him to death.
While the sentence against the defendants was being read, hundreds of people gathered in a tribute to Fernando outside the Le Brique nightclub, the place where the conflict that cost him his life began.
In a nearby tree, the young man's family and friends have set up an impromptu memorial with photos and messages of love.
