Those who have a
motorcycle
now have a new way to earn money with the vehicle: become
Uber drivers
and spend time
taking passengers
from one point of the city to another, just as tens of thousands of motorists do.
The novelty is due to the fact that the well-known mobility platform, present since 2016 in Argentina, decided to activate its "
Uber Moto
" service in the country for the first time.
For now, only for
Greater Buenos Aires
.
Months ago, the Chinese app DiDi had taken the same step.
In a statement, Uber confirmed that passengers, when requesting a trip in the application,
can now choose
whether they prefer to be picked up by
a car or a motorcycle
, the latter option being up to
40% cheaper
.
What Uber also launched, simultaneously, is a
call for motorcyclists
interested in earning money
by making the motorcycle transfers
that people request, always with the possibility of deciding which days to work, for how long, in which areas and which trips to accept.
"This option offers
an economic opportunity
to those who have a motorcycle and seek to generate earnings in a
flexible and independent
way through the Uber app," the company highlighted.
There they also reported, before
Clarín
's consultation , all the details of the proposal: from who can sign up and what vehicle they need, to
how much they will be able to earn
, how they will collect the money and what protection they will have in the event of eventual road accidents or acts of insecurity.
Uber Moto is already working in Greater Buenos Aires.

In this first stage, the service will be working in the matches of Greater Buenos Aires.
Does not include Capital
or trips from or to the Buenos Aires territory.
"The trips occur entirely
within the GBA
, both the starting point and the destination," they clarified in Uber.
"In recent years -they commented-, we have seen an
exponential growth in
the use of motorcycles as a means of transportation in the GBA and with the launch of Uber Moto we seek to contribute by adding new mobility options."
Uber began to offer cheap motorcycle transfers, for now only in the Conurbano.

What protection will the platform give the driver and passenger?
Uber promised that all Uber Moto trips will have coverage from the insurance
company SURA
that includes
Civil Liability
and
Personal Accidents
.
In addition, both parties will be able to use the usual security tools of the app, such as
PIN verification
(to confirm that the correct person uploaded);
RideCheck
(which activates an alert for stops or strange changes in the route);
the button to call
911
and the availability of "
24/7
" support.
How much money can you earn taking Uber passengers with the motorcycle?
As each driver can choose which
days
, at what
times
, for
how long
and in
which areas to
work, the monthly earnings may be very different depending on the case.
However, as a reference, from the platform they indicated to
Clarín
that "a person who drives with Uber Moto can generate
up to $1,000 per hour
."
From this it follows that whoever dedicates
4 hours a day
, 5 days a week, could raise up to
$88,000
in a month.
Or up to
$176,000
working
8 hours
a day.
Also, as a promotion, currently
referring
drivers can earn up to an additional
$20,000
.
And the new ones who complete
10 trips
