"2050, the world after": when television makes the French feel guilty about the climate

2023-02-07T05:20:00.630Z

DECRYPTION – Tuesday evening, W9 offers a documentary that projects itself into twenty-six years with catastrophic projections. Scenarios more and more imagined on the small screen to stir awareness.

In 2050, you may have to wear a gas mask to walk on… a beach.

Living in the countryside could also be impossible, as could moving around, even for short distances.

W9 presents disaster scenarios in "2050, the world after" this Tuesday evening, in the first part of the evening.

A documentary which will be followed by a debate on the issue presented by Nathalie Renoux.

When it is not politicians who make the French feel guilty, television takes care of it.

In mid-December, BFMTV broadcast "2050, let's open our eyes", which already anticipated our climate future.

With a Bruce Toussaint and an Aurélie Casse aged for the occasion.

On TF1, for several years, Évelyne Dhéliat has regularly updated a predictive weather report which displays for 2050 temperatures exceeding 40°C everywhere in France.

Stop or again?

Do these cries of alarm have a real effect on our habits?

No doubt, if we remember the outcry aroused by Emmanuel Macron, during his wishes for 2023, when he wondered “

who could have predicted

 ” the climate crisis.

He had surely not yet watched BFMTV or W9.

Awareness on the move.
