A tweet by the British journalist and the wife of band member David Gilmour, Polly Samson, reignited the long-standing conflict.

British lyricist and journalist Polly Samson, who is also the wife of Pink Floyd band member David Gilmour, in a scathing attack against Roger Waters.

In a tweet from her Twitter account, Samson wrote yesterday (Monday): "Unfortunately, Roger Waters, you are anti-Semitic to the rotten core. You also support Putin and here is a lying, thieving, hypocritical, tax-raising megalomaniac, a jealous misogynist. Enough with your rants ".

• Roger Waters expresses himself with a new scandalous statement about Israel - and puts Pink Floyd's financial deal in jeopardy

• For the first time since the outbreak of the war: Roger Waters responds

This tweet reignited the long-standing feud between Waters and Gilmour (and actually between Waters and the rest of his former band members).

Gilmore himself shared Samson's tweet, adding: "Everything said here is true and provable."

As we know, Waters is the musician most associated with the BDS movement and the cultural boycott of Israel.

He often speaks against Israel in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and for years he has been urging artists planning to perform in the country not to do so.

Recently he also expressed support for Russian President Vladimir Putin and justified his country's military invasion of Ukraine.

Later, a response was published on the Instagram and Twitter accounts on behalf of Waters, which read: "Roger Waters is aware of the inaccurate inflammatory statements made about him on Twitter by Polly Samson, which he can completely refute. As of this time, he is consulting on his response and position."

Sadly @rogerwaters you are antisemitic to your rotten core.

Also a Putin apologist and a lying, thieving, hypocritical, tax-avoiding, lip-synching, misogynistic, sick-with-envy, megalomaniac.

Enough of your nonsense.

The general assumption is that Samson tweeted the words as a response to an interview recently given by her partner's partner in the legendary group for a German newspaper, in which he claimed to have changed his mind about the Russian president in the past year, in light of the invasion of Ukraine.

This after previously describing him as a "gangster".

"Maybe I shouldn't be like this, but today I am much more open to listening to what Putin has to say," he said in an interview.

Alongside this, the singer expressed his anti-Israel views in the interview.
