Is the brand new PIAmot keyboard, designed by a Caen start-up, able to compete with our old companion Azerty?
We are not there.
But this tool could nevertheless attract many professionals.
The principle is simple.
“It's about allowing typing almost 3 times faster than with our usual keyboards.
For this, the PIAmot allows you to enter syllables instead of letters!
And it is enriched with several technological contributions, starting with artificial intelligence and automatic writing, which considerably speed up the work of a typist or a secretary", explains Damien Le Lann, one of the leaders of this start-ups.
“You can program an entire phrase with just one key”

This method is already used to produce live captioning, especially during presidential speeches.
“But we can imagine many other variations of this technology, for example during conferences or TV shows, for the hearing impaired.
Ultimately, this technique could also interest call centers, law firms, web editors or even executive assistants.
Indeed, if, for example, a sentence is written several times or even several dozen times a day, it can be programmed using a single key.
As soon as this key is pressed, the programmed sentence will then be completely inscribed on the text that is being written”, explains Damien Le Lann.
Several months of training
For now, the PIAmot is still in the development phase.
Only professionals can acquire it for 1,000 euros, but the Caen-based start-up hopes, thanks to a crowdfunding operation, to reduce this price and offer it from the second half of 2023, to the general public for all kinds of uses that require quick entry.
Knowing this is undoubtedly the Achilles heel of the project, that it takes at least several months of practice before acquiring this optimal speed.
