Algeria announced the dispatch of a civil protection team to Syria to participate in the rescue operations for the victims of the earthquake that hit it at dawn yesterday, leaving hundreds of victims.
The Algerian newspaper An-Nahar reported that, under the direction of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, a team of 86 civil protection personnel was formed to go to Syria, where it will participate in rescue operations using techniques and means in accordance with international standards required by the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group.
President Tebboune had affirmed, in a telegram addressed to President Bashar al-Assad, that the Algerian government and people stand by the Syrian people in these harsh circumstances, and their willingness to lend a hand and assist in every effort that would mitigate the severity and effects of this painful tragedy.
