Amsalem will join the government as a minister in the Ministry of Justice, for regional cooperation and liaison between the government and the Knesset - Walla! News

On video: Amslam in a sharp attack on Netanyahu (Walla system!)

MK David Amsalem responded today (Tuesday) to the request of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, and will join the government as minister in the Ministry of Justice, minister for regional cooperation and the minister who liaises between the government and the Knesset.

For the purpose of the new arrangement, the Minister of Education Yoav Kish will resign from his positions as Minister for Regional Cooperation and the minister who liaises between the Knesset and the government.

After the elections, Amsalem demanded to be appointed only to the position of Minister of Justice or Speaker of the Knesset, and refused any other offer that was put before him, and decided to remain outside the government. He will be appointed a minister in the Ministry of Justice and will receive some of the powers of Justice Minister Yariv Levin.

The resolution of the crisis with Amsalem was intended, among other things, To secure the coalition majority for the approval of the Deri law that will come up next week and will allow Shas chairman Aryeh Deri to be appointed as a kosher minister despite the High Court ruling.

Amsalem and MK Danny Danon, another one of those disappointed by the distribution of roles in Likud, sent messages according to which they would not support the legislation if the crisis with Amsalem was not settled, which now indeed has been settled.
