Commissioned by President Bashar al-Assad, the Minister of Defense, General Ali Mahmoud Abbas, toured a number of sites damaged by the devastating earthquake that hit the city of Aleppo.
General Abbas was briefed on the rescue work and the removal of rubble in a number of the city's neighborhoods, which are carried out with the participation of all governmental and private agencies in the governorate along with the Syrian Arab Army units. He listened to many people whose homes were damaged, and instructed those concerned to continue responding to the emergency situation, in coordination with the authorities. General Abbas had met in the governorate building the sub-committee for relief, where he stressed the importance of harnessing all capabilities of governmental and private agencies to continue to mitigate and treat damages in order to ensure the safety of citizens, and the need to exercise caution and accuracy in rescue operations, and to deliver aid to those who deserve it, pointing out that army units The Syrian Arab participates in rescue operations, based on its patriotic duty in times of war and peace.
The Minister of Defense pointed out the importance of what the concerned authorities in the governorate are doing to coordinate rescue operations and provide relief and humanitarian assistance to citizens in shelters, noting the role of brotherly and friendly countries in providing assistance.
For his part, the Governor of Aleppo, Hussein Diab, stated that since the first moments of the earthquake, the concerned authorities in the province have mobilized all the available capabilities with the civil authorities to deal with the current situation, noting what the friends offer, and their standing by the Syrian Arab people in this ordeal.
The police chief of the governorate, Major General Dib Marei Dib, participated in the tour.
