Donations to the police welfare fund plummeted by 85%

"Hong Kong 01" applied to check the donation records of the Police Welfare Fund through the Code of Access to Information in January this year. In addition, the foundation also received two donations of 15 million yuan and four donations of 5 million yuan during the year.

Among the seven huge donations, only one donation of 5 million yuan was signed, which was the Hong Kong Tung Foundation (The Tung Foundation) founded by the father of former Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa and the late "Ship King" Dong Haoyun.

However, in 2021/22, the donations received by the Police Welfare Fund plummeted by 85% to about 18.68 million.

The foundation received a total of 86 donations in that year, the highest of which was an anonymous donation of 11 million yuan, accounting for nearly 60% of the annual donation income.

In that year, there was also a donation of 3 million yuan and four donations of 500,000 yuan, which were relatively large donations throughout the year, and the above donations were all made anonymously.

Anonymous donations accounted for 76% with only 20 signatures

Among the donations received by the foundation in that year, there were only 20 signed donations, that is, more than 76% were still anonymous donations.
