The Iranian Air Force has revealed a secret underground base, apparently in preparation for a possible air attack on Iran's air defense capabilities, in a mountainous area in the center of the country.
According to the "Tasanim" news agency, the base is capable of containing all types of fighter jets, bombers and unmanned aerial vehicles in the hands of the Iranian Air Force, including newer models of aircraft that Russia has committed to transfer to Iran such as the Sukhoi 35.
The base includes a forward headquarters, maintenance areas and storage apartments for fighter jets with fuel tanks as well as equipment for navigation and coordination of air missions.
In published photographs of the facility, multi-purpose fighter jets of the Phantom F-4 model made in the United States are seen, an old fighter jet that retired from service in Israel in the late 1990s.
