Iranian political, trade union and media figures have called for the need to lift the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people to face the repercussions of the devastating earthquake that struck Syria at dawn yesterday, leaving hundreds of victims and injuries.

Iranian international affairs expert Qassem Ghafouri stressed that the catastrophe that befell the Syrian people calls for quick and urgent action by the international community and international and non-international organizations to help, especially that the Syrian people are still suffering from the terrorist and economic war that has been imposed on them for years.

In turn, the Iranian politician Mahdi Azizi called for the need to help the Syrian people in their humanitarian ordeal, pointing out that America and Western countries have practiced and are still practicing a policy of pressure and starvation to make people kneel to achieve their political goals.

For his part, Iranian politician and journalist Saeed Shaward said that the US sanctions are terrorist sanctions that target the Syrian citizen and prevent aid from being provided to him.

For their part, many members of the Syrian community called on international organizations to stand by Syria and demand the lifting of coercive sanctions and the delivery of necessary aid to the Syrian people, expressing their deep condolences and solidarity with their compatriots during these harsh conditions and the natural disaster that befell them.

For his part, Suleiman Daoud, a civil engineering student in Tehran, said that the unfair sanctions impede the arrival of humanitarian aid to those affected by the earthquake, noting that the initial needs of citizens increased after the earthquake.

In his turn, the Syrian doctoral student in international law, Saqr Sobouh, confirmed that the unjust sanctions imposed on Syria had negative repercussions on the country, expressing his hope that the international community, international organizations and free people in the world would shoulder their responsibilities by lifting the siege on Syria.
