Former Lebanese MP Emile Lahoud called for lifting the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria to face the repercussions of the earthquake that occurred yesterday, expressing his condolences to the Syrian people for that.
Lahoud said in a statement: It is really unfortunate that the West is watching today's reaction to the damage caused by this natural disaster.
In a related context, Ahmed Hussein, a Nasserite leader and member of the General Secretariat of the Arab National Conference in Egypt, called for lifting the siege on Syria to face the repercussions of the earthquake.
In a statement to SANA's correspondent in Cairo, Hussein called for providing assistance to Syria, through an air, land and sea bridge from all Arab capitals as a result of the earthquake, pointing out that now is not the time for political theorizing.
In a similar statement, Muhammad Ismail, director of the Arab National Youth Camp, expressed his solidarity with Syria as a result of the earthquake, and offered sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, considering that Syria, which had stood firm for more than a decade, would face the ordeal despite all the challenges and difficulties.
In a similar statement, the Syrian student Qais Akram expressed his solidarity with his country in this ordeal, and called for lifting the economic blockade imposed on it.
