What took him to the top of English football and to compete with the European powers, can now condemn
Manchester City.
That economic power that he obtained when the
Abu Dhabi Group for Development and Investment
took control of the club in 2008 in exchange for
250 million euros
, can now bring serious complications to the
citizens.
It is
that the Premier League issued a statement in which they accuse the celestial institution of incurring multiple financial irregularities
during the period from the 2009-10 season to 2017-18, in addition to breaching the UEFA
Financial Fair Play
regulations and not collaborate with the investigation that, in this regard, has been carried out since 2018
.
"Manchester City FC is shocked by the publication of these alleged breaches of the Premier League Rules,
particularly by the extensive engagement and large amount of detailed materials that have been provided to the Premier League," the club responded immediately.
There will be a review, which they hope will be "in charge of an independent commission", before determining the punishment, which ranges from removing points to expulsion from the league.
Meanwhile,
the salaries of the footballers who today make up the City squad were leaked
and, strikingly,
Erling Haaland is not the best paid in the team
, beyond having arrived as the star of the future after scoring 29 goals in 30 games played during the last season with Borussia Dortmund and to continue paying with goals in England (he has 31 in 28 PJ).
Kevin de Bruyne
is the one who occupies that privileged place.
The Belgian receives 20.8 million pounds sterling a year against the 19.5 million of the Norwegian.
Above both, his coach:
Pep Guardiola
earns 21.5 million per season, more than any of his coaches.
The
next names to appear on the list, and the last with seven digits, are
Jack Grealish
(15,600,000),
John Stones
(13,000,000),
Phil Foden
(11,700,000) and
Rodri
(11,440,000).
Julián Álvarez
and
Máximo Perrone,
meanwhile, are among those with the lowest income: 2,600,000 and 1,560,000 respectively.
Below the former Vélez, only the 1,040,000 of Cole Palmer.
One pound sterling is equivalent to 1.20 dollars, so Haaland's salary, for example, would be equivalent to 23 million dollars a year, almost eight times more than the amount received by the Argentines Álvarez (3.1 million) and Perrone (1 .9 million).
These supposed figures were leaked by the English press and it should be clarified that they are subject to the corresponding tax discounts, which considerably lower the net amount of salaries.
