New Zealand announced its intention to provide immediate humanitarian support to those affected by the earthquake that struck Syria at dawn yesterday.

An initial contribution to meet humanitarian needs in the amount of 500,000 New Zealand dollars to the Syrian Arab Red Crescent.”
A 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck at dawn yesterday in northern Syria, and, according to the Ministry of Health, injured 1,449 people and killed 812 in the governorates of Aleppo, Latakia, Hama, Idlib countryside, and Tartous, in an indefinite toll.
