The door on the mobile stable of the animals had probably been manipulated beforehand.

The aggrieved couple now wants to install cameras and locks.

Pähl

- "It's a huge mess," said the mayor of Pähl, Werner Grünbauer, yesterday in an interview with the local newspaper.

In the night from Friday to Saturday, unknown persons are said to have opened a mobile chicken coop at a Pähler egg farm and manipulated the door in such a way that it could no longer fall shut.

"It's sick," says the mayor about the incident.

It ended with a lot of animal blood: a fox killed around 80 of the 250 hens in the barn, and the only rooster in the flock fell victim to the hunter.

"It wasn't a silly children's prank," Grünbauer is certain.

80 dead chickens and a dead rooster

The egg farm is run by a 44-year-old staker and her 43-year-old husband.

They sell free range eggs and homemade egg noodles as a sideline.

"Something like this has never happened to us," said the injured party yesterday on request.

Although eggs have been stolen and a door opened during the day, there have been no incidents at night.

The impaler, who doesn't want to read her name in the newspaper, is sure that this was done on purpose.

"100 percent," she says.

According to her, the locks on the stable had been adjusted in such a way that the door had to remain open.

"The inner bolt had also been moved."

Dead chickens: "So far everything has always been very peaceful"

Everything was fine the night before: the couple drove to the barn after sunset as usual and locked the door.

"If the inner bar had been up, we wouldn't have been able to close it at all," says the direct marketer.

The nasty surprise followed on Saturday morning.

"Dead chickens were scattered all over the meadow." According to the police, the damage amounts to around 640 euros.

There is no concrete suspicion as to who might have opened the door.

"So far everything has always been very peaceful," says the impaler.

The Weilheim police are also still groping in the dark.

"We have no hot lead," it says on request.

"In such cases, we rely on witness statements." Anyone who has noticed anything suspicious can contact Tel. 0881/6400.

Meanwhile, the Pähler couple would like to install wildlife cameras and locks on their stables.

In total, they operate three chicken coops with almost 1000 animals.
