The Russian Federal Security Service announced the dismantling of a cell belonging to the banned terrorist organization “Battalion of Monotheism and Jihad” in the Russian Federation.
Sputnik quoted the agency as saying in a statement today: “4 members of the cell were arrested, who were active in recruiting and transporting terrorists to Syria, financing members of a terrorist organization, and calling for crimes against Russian citizens.”
The statement indicated that the organization's propaganda videos were confiscated, as well as means of communication, electronic media, and bank cards, and a criminal case was opened against members of the cell.
The so-called “Tawhid and Jihad Brigade,” which was behind the St. Petersburg metro bombing in April 2017, has been classified as a terrorist organization in Russia since 2019.
