The Pharmacists Association in Israel warned today (Tuesday) about a severe shortage of medicines for children.
The shortage is felt at the height of the winter season and includes both prescription and non-prescription drugs.
Prescription drugs are missing, for example, antibiotics of several types, cough syrup, inhalation solutions and inhalers for children.
Among the non-prescription drugs that are missing are nasal congestion drops, pain relievers, lozenges and more.
Even when there is a replacement, it runs out very quickly.

David Pepo, chairman of the Pharmacists' Association in Israel: "The shortage of medicines is a real hardship, all the more so when it comes to children.
The shortage is also felt in medicines that have no substitute, such as certain antibiotics.
It should be understood that not all medicines have a substitute, and even in cases where there is a substitute, it runs out very quickly following the original medicine.
If this is not enough, following the shortage, a new phenomenon has started - when a drug that is missing comes back into stock, it is provided with an allowance.
This situation is more serious than previous years and is very worrying."
