The photo was published as part of a lawsuit filed by the family against the police in the city of Moab in the state of Utah, claiming that the officers did not fulfill their duties properly because they did not act against her fiance, who is suspected of murdering her.

More than a year after Gabby Petito's body was found after a trip with her fiance Brian Laundrey, her family's lawyers have released a new photo showing Petito with bruises on her face, just weeks before she was allegedly murdered and dumped in a national park.

The photo was published as part of a lawsuit filed by the family against the police in the city of Moab in the state of Utah, claiming that the officers did not fulfill their duties properly because they did not act against Laundry.

As you remember, the police in the city interrogated the two after receiving testimony from a passerby about a fight between them and an attempt by Laundry to forcibly take her cell phone from her.

The photo is a selfie Petito took of herself just before police detained the two for questioning, the lawyers said.

"The photo was taken at 16:37 at the same time or shortly before the call to the police hotline (by the passerby)," the lawyers said.

As you may remember, Laundry and Petito documented their trip around the US in the summer of 2021 until at some point their relationship deteriorated, and witnesses described their quarrels as those in which violence was even used.

SHOCKING SELFIE: The photo was taken just weeks before Petito's death and recovered from her phone.

After a few weeks in which there was no record of their trip on the networks, Petito's body was located in a national park near the last place where the two were seen with severe signs of violence.

Although the case was declared a murder, Laundry was initially not suspected of her murder, but his disappearance from the scene and his absence from the public eye immediately after for about an entire month made people wonder if he had murdered her.

His body was found not far from his home in Florida, after he committed suicide.

After items were found near his body, the FBI said he apparently murdered her and confessed to the crime in a notebook he was holding.
