The Syrian toddler, whose picture of being pulled alive from the rubble gave a glimmer of hope after the heavy disaster, lost most of her family - including her mother - in the earthquake that destroyed large parts of the country and neighboring Turkey yesterday (Monday).
Regad Ismail was pulled from the rubble in the border town of Azaz unharmed, but one of her uncles who was watching over her said that her two brothers died along with her pregnant mother.
The toddler, 18 months old, was recorded later in the day eating pita and sitting on pillows under a blanket while being warmed by an oven.
"There is concern that the father's back is broken, his young daughter is fine. His pregnant wife, his five-year-old daughter and his four-year-old son were all killed," uncle Abu Hussam said.
According to him, another family living in the building, a mother and three children, was rescued alive.

The toddler's family was displaced from the town of Morak during the civil war, and like many Syrians he ended up in rebel strongholds near the Turkish border.
The protracted fighting in the country left many buildings on the verge of collapse, and the noise hit hard in areas where millions of displaced people stay in harsh conditions, at the height of winter.
At least 1,444 people were killed in Syria and about 3,500 more were injured, while in neighboring Turkey the number of victims reached about 3,000.
