"We built a menu on memories": Chef Raz Rahav celebrates a decade of Poppina | Israel today

Popina Restaurant celebrates an impressive achievement: celebrating a decade of extensive and prosperous activity.

The celebration itself was chosen by Chef Oral Kimchi, who has been leading the kitchen since its inception, to devote to three special evenings during which he will cook with three chefs who are significant to him.

Chef Raz Rahab, who started his career at Popina as a cook in the cold line (and the rest is history), was the first guest last night (Tuesday).

After him, the senior chefs Erez Komarovski and Yoram Nitzan will also cook in the restaurant.

All meals will be accompanied by a special McAllen cocktail menu.

We went out to meet Rahab and Kimchi in the same cold strip where it all started and came back with some secrets about the period that influenced Rahav's extensive career today - watch the interview.  

Decade special meals at Popina

February 20 - Oral Kimchi hosts Erez Komarovsky:

Chef Erez Komarovsky does not need to be introduced, not even in matters of Poppina's birthday celebrations, where he is a regular guest.

Erez and Oral met in the first week of the restaurant.

Since then the two maintain a close friendship and usually create together.

The celebration menu at their shared meal will be a structured menu of 11 courses (including two desserts).

It will include dishes such as roasted veal almond salad, green leaves, roasted Meyer lemons;

veal cheek sponge dish, Demi Glas delicate;

And another full of dishes full of joy and love.

February 27 - Oral Kimchi hosts Yoram Nitzan:

Ural has appreciation and love for chef Yoram Nitzan's cooking and work over the years.

Like many other chefs, he too would frequent the prestigious "Mol Yam" restaurant time and time again when he was still a novice cook.

All to taste and get to know the master's handiwork, which was a marker for highly creative cuisine in Israel.

The celebration menu for the two will be an open menu for the audience to choose.
