I said to myself that, finally, we have this chance to interpret as actresses the giants of French song and I found it a pity that we never did the portrait - I prefer that to a tribute -, of someone who always sings.
Very quickly the desire to work on Alain Souchon came to me.
When I proposed this ballad by Souchon to Éric Ruf
(general administrator of the Comédie-Française, editor's note)
, he told me that it was an excellent idea.
For me, Souchon was a great poet of French song who speaks to us all.
There is like a natural identification and sympathy for this man
