Guardiola and the scandal in Manchester City: where could he continue his career if he left?

2023-02-08T15:02:17.388Z

The Spanish DT has been giving signs of the end of the cycle and warned that he would slam the door 'the next day' if financial irregularities are shown.

A couple of weeks ago, he criticized the

Manchester City

fans for being "silent for 45 minutes" and for lack of attitude towards their leaders.

"We are far from being the team we were,

Pep Guardiola

said  after the 4-2 win vs.

Tottenham (0-2 at halftime).

Later, in the preview of the game against Arsenal,

They asked him about the rival DT,

Mikel Arteta

, and he acknowledged his commitment to the

Gunners

, after Arteta stops being Guardiola's assistant at City and leaves to direct in London.

"Everybody has dreams and I know that he went to his club, to the club he dreamed of. I wasn't going to oppose me.

It's as if I'm training here and Barcelona calls me. I'll go. It's my club", he

shot.

Another bombing.

Cycle completed?

More recently, the financial irregularities that the

Premier League

leaked in a statement and that could bring serious sanctions to the

Citizens

boost the versions that speak of a possible departure from the Catalan.

Pep himself warned last year that he was committed to the City board of directors but that in the event that irregularities were demonstrated in the accounting balance sheets, he would be the first to slam the door and leave the club.

"When there are suspicions or people accuse them of something, I go and ask them: 'what's that about?

' The next day I won't be here

," the Spaniard said at a press conference.

In that case, where would he continue his successful career?

"The next step will be a selection, if the opportunity presents itself, "

Guardiola

said

when he was asked in August 2021 about a possible end to his long career at the English club (he arrived in the 2016-17 season).

In this context, after the elimination of the Brazilian team in the quarterfinals of the World Cup,

the Brazilian Football Confederation pointed to Pep as Tité's replacement

and even the offer for the Spaniard was leaked: a four-year bond, until the Cup of the World of 2026, in exchange for 12 million euros net.

According to

Mirror Sports,

the

Netherlands team,

now without

Louis Van Gaal,

also wants the renowned multi-champion coach with Barcelona and has already taken steps to hire him.

Although the numbers were not released, the English newspaper reported that

the Dutch federation had already contacted him to convince him to lead the Orange.

Later, in the European media three other elite teams are mentioned, although they are more utopian alternatives: one has an acting coach

(England)

, another changed coach after the World Cup

(Spain)

and the rest waits for the continuity of your technician

(Argentina)

.

It seems unlikely that any of these three possibilities will occur, but

they are teams that have Guardiola among his favorites in case they have to find a replacement for Southgate, De La Fuente or Scaloni.

While

Lionel Scaloni

's renewal seems to be a fact, especially after

Chiqui Tapia

said

"we are going to give good news",

Guardiola's move to the albiceleste has more to do with the coach's own desire to direct Leo again than to a concrete reality.

For that matter, it seems more realistic that they meet again in Paris than in Argentina.

If

PSG

fails to meet the objectives that lie ahead, mainly the

Champions League

(they face Bayern Munich in the round of 16), and

Cristophe Galtier

decides to step aside, that's when Pep will appear more strongly.

At the same time, the Parisian club fights for the renewal of the Argentine star.

Messi converted 211 goals and gave 79 assists in 219 games played with Guardiola as manager and together they won 14 titles

, including two Champions League, in Barcelona.

Will they meet again?
