Vienna-Sana
The “Hands off Syria” solidarity gathering called for lifting the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria, allowing the rapid entry of aid to those affected by the devastating earthquake that hit the country yesterday.
In a statement today, the Assembly indicated that the difficult conditions that the Syrians are going through are not the result of the earthquake only, but rather from the consequences of the unilateral sanctions and the blockade imposed on the Syrian people since 2011 and the accompanying military aggression and terrorist war against Syria supported by Washington and the European Union.
He warned that continuing to impose sanctions means more tragedies, the absence of equipment to deal with the consequences and repercussions of the earthquake, to save people, and the absence of sufficient funds to adequately care for the survivors of the disaster.
The statement stressed that the blockade imposed on Syria in light of the devastating earthquake is tantamount to mass killing, and must be stopped.
The gathering called for a stand in solidarity and protest to lift the sanctions imposed on Syria, and in solidarity with all those affected by the earthquake, tomorrow evening, Thursday, in the center of the Austrian capital, Vienna.
