President Bashar al-Assad received this evening a phone call from Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid, during which he expressed his country's condolences and solidarity with Syria for what it was hit by the earthquake.
The Iraqi President affirmed that Syria's affliction is the same as Iraq's affliction, and therefore he will do everything he can to help the Syrian people and mitigate the effects of this catastrophe.
The Iraqi Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, also offered his sincere condolences during a telephone conversation with President al-Assad, indicating Iraq's readiness to continue providing aid and assistance to support the Syrian government's efforts in rescue and relief operations for the people of the affected areas.
During the two calls, President al-Assad thanked the Iraqi leadership and people for their humanitarian response, and for sending various aids to support the affected people and help in search and rescue operations.
President al-Assad also received a phone call from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, during which he offered his sovereignty and the Syrian people his sincere condolences for the earthquake victims, praying to God to have mercy on them and to grant the wounded a speedy recovery.
President Abbas affirmed that the Palestinian leadership and the people of Palestine stand by their Syrian brothers, and are ready to provide all possible forms of assistance.
