Private salaried employment remained stable in the fourth quarter in France, with barely 3,000 net creations, after an increase of 0.6% in the previous quarter, according to the provisional estimate published on Wednesday by INSEE.

This stability follows seven consecutive quarters of significant growth.
Private salaried employment exceeds its level of a year earlier by 1.5% (i.e. +304,900 jobs) and that before the health crisis (end of 2019) by 4.5% (i.e. +888,000 jobs)
”, underlines INSEE in its press release.
In detail, temporary work increased again: +0.8% (or +6,500 jobs) after +1.9% the previous quarter.

Excluding temporary work, industrial employment slowed (+0.1%, or +3,100 jobs) after +0.5% in the previous quarter.
The commercial tertiary sector markedly stalled: -0.1% after +0.7% (i.e. -11,400 jobs after +84,600 jobs).
In construction, employment is stable, as in the non-market tertiary sector.
Finally, salaried agricultural employment increased by 1.7% after a drop of 1.0%.
