The General Union of Craftsmen announced the formation of a committee to contribute to the relief of those affected by the earthquake that struck Syria at dawn yesterday, to assess the damage that befell craftsmen and their facilities and to stand by them.
Hassan Al-Mahmoud, a member of the Executive Office of the Union, stated that the committee headed by the President of the Federation, Naji Al-Hadhwa, will start its first steps by depositing about one hundred million Syrian pounds in the relief fund account, in addition to preparing to carry out field visits to shelters to assist the concerned authorities and civil defense teams in rescue operations. The craftsmen in Aleppo ensured the requirements of the affected people who are in the temporary center opened by the Church of Joy Hall in Aleppo and the stadium center.
The union had asked its branches in the governorates to mobilize all the cadres and mechanisms available to them and the craft associations to be at the disposal of the governors to contribute to rescue and relief operations, and to set up all its headquarters and craft associations to be shelters, and to contribute by donating blood and supporting the concerned authorities and civil defense teams in the affected governorates.
