According to news from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) on the evening of Tuesday (7th), the school has been approved to start undergraduate enrollment in batches in advance this year.

A few days ago, the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China stated that it has agreed in principle to the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) to recruit students in advance batches for three undergraduate majors including artificial intelligence, data science and big data technology, and intelligent manufacturing engineering from 2023.

The so-called "undergraduate approval in advance" refers to the collection of some schools that are basically the same or similar in category, nature, and major, and admit them before large-scale enrollment.

Relevant documents pointed out that the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education should follow the relevant spirit and requirements of the "Sunshine Project" for college admissions, strengthen guidance and supervision of the admissions work of HKUST (Guangzhou), strictly review the admissions regulations, strengthen the disclosure of admissions information, and ensure scientific admissions work Standardized, fair and just, and orderly implementation.

According to public information, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) is located in Dongchong Town, Nansha District, Guangzhou. It is jointly organized by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Guangzhou University and the Guangzhou Municipal Government. It is a cooperative educational institution with Hong Kong, and it is also the first university in Nansha District.

The school started construction in September 2019, and was officially approved by the Ministry of Education in June 2022. It officially opened in September of the same year, offering 15 master's and doctoral courses in advanced materials, intelligent transportation, and microelectronics.

In 2023, the school will recruit students from Guangdong, Shandong, Sichuan and Henan provinces, and recruit students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and international students.
