The British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, met Volodymyr Zelensky directly at Stansted airport

, for a first greeting as part of today's surprise visit by the Ukrainian president to the United Kingdom: the second abroad since the beginning of the war with Russia on February 24, 2022, after the one made in the USA in December, and the first in Europe, as the local media underline, highlighting Zelensky's choice to visit London before Brussels.

Sunak welcomed the guest with a hug on a cold but sunny day, as evidenced by a photo posted on his Twitter profile.

Photo accompanied by a "welcome" message and the slogan "Slava Ukraini".

Zelensky will be in Brussels tomorrow and will participate in the extraordinary European Council and in the plenary session of the European Parliament.

The Ukrainian president will address the 27 leaders "in the morning" and then proceed to a series of bilateral meetings.

The Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky will go to Paris tonight after the stop in London.
