The finale of the 16th "Bergdoktor" season will take place on February 23rd.
Until then things will be dramatic in Ellmau.

Ellmau – In the 16th season of “Der Bergdoktor”, which has been running on ZDF since December 29th, one drama follows the next.
The previous season with the farewells of Anne (Ines Lutz, 39) and Franziska (Simone Hanselmann, 43) already came to a sad end, but this time the long-awaited happy ending seems even further away.
Things aren't going well for the Grubers, Martin wants to move to the USA and things are also turbulent for the Bergdoktor's patients.

A story line that has dominated the current "Bergdoktor" season since the first episode and reached its boiling point in the seventh episode "Neuland" is the family drama in the Gruber household.
Martin and Hans (Heiko Ruprecht, 50) are on the warpath and instead of hugging and supporting each other as brothers, the situation escalates completely.
The mountain doctor sees no other way out than to move to Franziska in New York for a while - but before he can close his practice, his patients keep him on his toes.

For a change, "Der Bergdoktor" is not just about the family drama at the Grubers.
Because Martin Gruber's patient Lorenz Kofler has to give up his business - and his son Daniel doesn't want to help.

In the previous "Bergdoktor" episode "Spiel mit dem Feuer" Martin Gruber had one of his most difficult cases with Noah Reimann - and in the end he diagnosed the 17-year-old, who was having an affair with his own stepmother, with HIV.
Although the likeable country doctor would certainly prefer to spend his time repairing his relationship with Hans, the next patient with a difficult fate is waiting for him in Lorenz Kofler (Johann Schuler, 65).
People stick together in Ellmau and Lorenz can really use the mountain doctor - because his existence is at stake.
Hans Sigl's secret guest role in "Der Bergdoktor"
Since 2008, Hans Sigl has embodied the title hero Martin Gruber in "Der Bergdoktor".
The exciting life of the country doctor inspires millions of loyal fans with every episode and has made his actor one of the biggest stars of German television.
But what very few people know: the role as the son of Lisbeth Gruber is not Hans Sigl's first Bergdoktor appearance.
Because ten years before he slipped into the white doctor's coat, he was already seen as a taxi driver in the popular series that was still running on Sat.1 at the time and in which Gerhard Lippert, a completely different mountain doctor, was the focus.
Who knows - maybe an extra from the ZDF remake will one day succeed Hans Sigl?

Actually, life for Lorenz Kofler couldn't be any better at the beginning of the seventh "Bergdoktor" episode "Neuland" – after all, he's enjoying his life in the Wilder Kaiser region with his new girlfriend Hanne (Angela Roy, 65).
But then everything changes for the blacksmith: he breaks his arm, gets the horrific diagnosis of osteoporosis and suddenly his family business is on the brink of collapse.
The talented craftsman has to retire and give up his job, and the only one who could save his livelihood and take over the workshop is his son Daniel (Tristan Seith, 43) - but he is the one who stands in the way.

Once again, it seems as if Martin Gruber now has to show off his skills as a mediator in addition to his medical expertise.
