Tuberculosis outbreak in Chemnitz: Dangerous disease

Tuberculosis is caused by bacteria and is notifiable.

Tuberculosis is still extremely dangerous today, especially in poorer countries, although it can theoretically be treated with medication - there it is more deadly than the infectious diseases HIV/AIDS, writes the Robert Koch Institute (RKI).

The tuberculosis pathogens are mainly excreted through coughing and sneezing.

They then spread, as was the case with Corona, via aerosols in the air.

Whether contagion and an outbreak occurs depends on various factors - for example how long and intensive contact with the infected person was and how susceptible you are to infections.
