2023-02-09T15:20:52.198Z

With Marine Tondelier as the new national secretary, the ecologists are embarking on several months of general meetings to rebuild their party.

We have collectively failed in 2022 to bring about the change that society needs.

“National Secretary of EELV elected since mid-December, Marine Tondelier listed “

many things

” to explain the failure of the environmental candidate Yannick Jadot in the last presidential election.

So the new boss of the party, heiress of the line of her predecessors Julien Bayou, David Cormand and Cécile Duflot, affirms that she will "

change, really change

".

Until reaching a bold goal: "

To be a million supporters by the end of the

presidential term", in 2027.

A “new movement” for this summer

To achieve their ends, environmentalists are launching a 150-day general assembly, a very broad consultation, beyond the political spectrum, with a slogan: “

Come as you are

”.

They should lead next summer to the founding of a “

new movement

” which would be “

more unifying, democratic and popular

”.

Animator of the launch of these Estates General on a Parisian barge moored not far from the Trocadero, Noël Mamère, presidential candidate of 2002 (5.25%) used a tonic vocabulary to underline the determination of his party to carry out

"a war for ecology”

, to oppose Emmanuel Macron and his policy.

"

The fight for the moment asymmetrical but the trickle down is done from below

", he assured, comparing the Head of State to "

a young man of 40 who thinks of the past and does not understand anything about the life (...) A petty bourgeois from the provinces who does not know what suffering is...

Yannick Jadot was absent, excused as an MEP by the presence in the Brussels Parliament of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

But many environmental speakers have taken turns at the microphone to express their hopes for a significant progress in political ecology at the polls in France, including several EELV mayors: that of Poitiers Léonore Moncond'huy, particularly in charge of the states general, or that of Grenoble Éric Piolle, a pioneer in local authorities.

The issue of Nupes, the alliance of left-wing parties in the last legislative elections was not addressed during this presentation.
