Latakia - SANA
Lattakia Governor, Eng. Amer Hilal, issued a decision to expand inspection committees for buildings damaged by the earthquake, and to increase their number to 14 new additional committees.
After the earthquake, the governorate issued a decision to form 44 committees at the governorate level, to inspect and decide on the damaged buildings and the possibility of returning to them.
The head of the provincial council, Eng. Tayseer Habib, stated in a statement to SANA reporter that the expansion of the committees was based on an increase in citizens' requests to inspect their buildings, to quickly complete their work, and to identify the buildings that pose a danger to their residents, and the buildings that can be returned to.
According to Habib, the committees include specialists from the Engineers Syndicate, the General Company for Engineering Studies, and city councils. University professors in engineering colleges will also be called upon to carry out the required work, given the large damage caused by the earthquake.
He pointed out that the cracked buildings, which pose a danger to the people and the neighborhood, will be taken to remove them, calling on the citizens whose homes were damaged to inform the mayors about the damaged buildings and direct the committees to them.
